Scott Gross of From Autumn To Ashes Joins 567!

    02/23/2009

Scott Gross, who came to national attention as the founding guitarist of From Autumn To Ashes (FATA) has announced he will enter a recording studio sometime over the next month to begin production on a yet unnamed new project. While Gross wrote all of the music and the bulk of the lyrics he considers this a group project. "I recruited my friend Kia, who is an amazing musician to handle vocals. I met him while he was a fill-in guitarist for Unearth. I also have a keyboard player named Jeff who adds all these layers of sound to the songs." Though known for his contribution to heavy music with FATA, this new project has shades of rock, pop and singer/songwriter materials. "When I left FATA I took a break from heavy music and began to explore the acoustic guitar. I got turned on to artists like Eliott Smith and Jack's Mannequin. I took a break from writing and searched for inspiration"

However it was not until a life altering situation that Gross found the impetus for the new music. "It was September 13th 2007 and I was on I-95 in New Jersey. The rental car I had broke down and I pulled over to the shoulder of the road. I got out of the car to walk to the back and that's all I remember." Another car had crashed into his pining him between and causing massive injuries to his leg, back and head. "They were going to call me in as deceased" he reveals. "For the past two years I have been chained to a bed, going to physical therapy daily and undergoing multiple surgeries for my leg which is mostly metal at this point. I also have two torn rotator cuffs which I still have to have surgery for. 98% of the time the pain is off the scale, music definitely helps to take my mind off of it. I've also been producing bands in my home studio and that's been great."

"When I left FATA, I was tired of the rock lifestyle, the endless touring and I didn't want to do music just to be popular. I spent three years before the accident just taking things in. It wasn't until after the accident that I began to write but now the music just flows from me and I'm really excited to share this music with other people." Look for studio updates over the next few months followed by the full-length on 567 Records later this year."

Further Seems Forever press release and track list!!!!

    03/23/2007

Further Seems Forever have set April 3, 2007 as the release date for their forthcoming album “The Final Curtain” which features unreleased tracks, live versions, acoustic material, DVD of their final show also and also Chris Carraba era material.

    567 Records | Cat.#: 567-02 | Format: CD & DVD | Street: 04/03/07

    Biography:
The genesis of this Pompano Beach, FL, band started from three groups: Strongarm, Shai Hulud, and the Vacant Andys. Originally led by vocalist Chris Carrabba, Further Seems Forever were rounded out by guitarists Josh Colbert and Nick Dominguez, bassist Chad Neptune, and drummer Steve Kleisath, first recording the song "Vengence Factor" for a Deep Elm Emo Diaries compilation. In July 1999, the group released a split EP with Recess Theory titled From the 27th State. The band, known for its power pop but also for its Christian emocore tinges, released its debut full-length, Moon Is Down, on Tooth and Nail in March 2001. The group later changed singers, however, when Carrabba went on to pursue his solo career full-time as Dashboard Confessional.
Further Seems Forever continued on with former Affinity frontman Jason Gleason at the helm. He brought an intensity to the music in a different form than Carrabba's previously more vulnerable vocals, and Gleason was first introduced to fans through tracks the band contributed to the Rock Music: A Tribute to Weezer and Punk Goes Pop compilations. Guitarist Derick Cordoba replaced Dominguez for February 2003's How to Start a Fire. It was a powerful effort proving that Further Seems Forever were more than just their former singer. As luck would have it, though, Gleason exited the group as work on its third album was beginning. Undeterred, the rest of Further Seems Forever got in contact with vocalist Jon Bunch – whose own band, Sense Field -- had recently dissolved. Bunch soon signed on formike duties, and Hide Nothing appeared in August 2004.
Autumn of 2004 was spent on tour with Sparta and Copeland before the group headed back out with the Starting Line in the first part of 2005. Further Seems Forever went on a brief hiatus that November, which eventually led to a formal announcement that they were calling it quits in early 2006.
“The Final Curtain” is packed with a DVD and CD of everything from unreleased tracks, acoustic versions, live versions, their final show and also Chris Carraba era material.
